Leesa and Andrew's Fijian fling

To pop the question to his high-school sweetheart, Andrew recreated his and Leesa’s first date.
Cue a gorgeous scenic drive, lunch at a restaurant on Whale Beach and a walk that ended with Andrew presenting Leesa with a glittering ring. “He did a very good job of keeping it secret! He had asked my dad for permission the week before and I was also surprised my dad had kept such a secret,” explains the bride. The couple chose to tie the knot in Fiji, because the tropical island had special significance for them both: the bride had lived in Fiji as a child and it was also where Andrew and Leesa took their first holiday together. “One morning on that holiday, we went for a walk around the island and saw the most beautiful white seaside chapel with glass windows that sat over the water,” says Leesa. “Andrew looked at me and said, 'This is where I’ll marry you' and so we did!”

“The fact that we had a destination wedding meant I couldn’t realistically pick up the phone at any hour of the day to call our wedding coordinator to ask any of the questions and requests I had,” says Leesa about the planning process. “Also the idea of choosing a menu we had never tasted, flowers I had only seen pictures of, and a hair and make-up artist I had never trialled was very daunting.” Leesa had both parents walk her down the aisle, and also made sure she ticked off the ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’. “I had my grandmother’s crystal brooch clipped into my bouquet, a garter from my aunt who couldn’t be there and a blue bow with my maiden name sewn into my dress, which was also my something new!”
